Faculty of Management to move New City Gas into McGill Bookstore
The Desautels Faculty of Management has finally addressed its space deficit in the Bronfman building by negotiating a deal that will allow popular nightlife destination New City Gas to relocate to the building where the McGill Bookstore currently operates.
During the lavish ceremony held at Montreal’s Ritz-Carlton to announce the news, Interim Dean Morty Yalovsky spoke to the attendees about how the move would help the faculty realize its full potential.
“For years, our students have had to settle for a campus environment that is incapable of fulfilling their essential needs,” said Yalovsky. “In order to ensure that these millennials become the successful leaders of tomorrow, we need to provide them with the increased study space and first-rate Euro-trance raves they deserve. "
He went on to discuss the logistics of how the venue would serve students.
“In addition to the regular evening events it offers, we envision New City Gas as a hub that students can access during the day, spending their breaks between classes enjoying some well-earned house music,” said Yalovsky. “Management students will be able to come and go as they please, but members of other faculties are required to pay a $10 cover charge at the door.”
There was a tremendous buzz of excitement among Desautels students once the news had broken.
“I’m on MUS Council, and this is going to be next level turnt,” said Taylor Thibodeau, U2 Entrepreneurship and International Business. “We’ve already got big stuff in the works: 4à7 foam parties, drum-and-bass samosa sales — man, the Bull and Bear photos are gonna be dope!”
In light of the overwhelmingly positive response, the faculty is already making preliminary inquiries about the possibility of moving Théâtre Telus to where Service Point currently stands.
