Graduating student uncharacteristically sentimental about school he constantly criticized
With less than two weeks left until he is set to complete his undergraduate degree, U3 Arts student and frequent McGill shit-talker Andrew Ziedins has shockingly begun to exhibit nostalgic feelings for the school he has harshly criticized over the past three-and-a-half years.
Those close to Ziedins believe the initial transformation occurred after he took his graduation photos last Thursday morning.
“Me and Andrew met up on campus that afternoon, and in the middle of our conversation, he just turned towards Lower Field and let out this enormous, dreamy sigh,” recalled Ziedins’ girlfriend Carol Xiong, U3 Education. “I asked him what was up and he just told me, ‘I guess sometimes, you don’t really know what you have till it’s almost gone.’ I was like, excuse me? Is this the same guy that took extra summer classes so he could get the fuck out of here as soon as he could?”
Ziedins’ sudden transformation has even extended to his social media presence.
“Andrew Instagrammed a photo of campus from the Roddick Gates with the caption ‘Won’t get to walk through this beautiful place much longer #wheredidthetimego’ and there didn’t seem to be even a hint of sarcasm,” explained his friend Campbell Henderson, U3 Science. “I’m used to him always venting about asbestos, MUNACA, McGill’s sexual assault policy, the SSMU building lease, or whatever the hell else is getting people riled up on campus. So the post was unexpected, to say the least.”
Even Ziedins—who is generally incredibly cynical towards all campus media outlets—agreed to be interviewed for this story.
“I think I’ve gained a lot of valuable experience [at McGill] that will help me transition into the government agency job I have lined up,” said Ziedins, a Political Science major. “Sure, it might’ve been nice if they didn’t have to cut a bunch of the smaller, upper-year POLI courses, but it’s all water under the bridge now.”
